MSHA approved and Explosion Proof (EX) equipment is used in mining and tunneling.

Aerial lifts, personnel transports, forklifts and skidsteers may be used for haulage, clearing debris, and for deep underground operations for maintenance and transportation. Hazards in the mining industry include the storage and handling of explosives, gas trapped in naturally occurring pockets as well as and dust and powders, which form potentially explosive clouds or layers.
