Common services provided by local governments or communities are airports, waste management and sewage treatment facilities.

Explosion Proof (EX) aerial lifts, forklifts, carts and other EX rated equipment are used in the disposal and recycling of chemical and hazardous waste. Unloading shipments containing potentially hazardous mixes of chemical waste and compounds can cause explosive reactions. Dust and powders often form a localized environment that may be potentially explosive. Other hazards include the movement and storage of drums containing hazardous materials that may be damaged or leaking.

Aerial lifts, tuggers and cranes are used for refueling and in maintenance areas where fuel vapors could be ignited.
